Ignite Support for Spark through a Donation or a Gift in Kind!

Spark’s fundraising efforts support foster alumni attending The University of Texas. Your generous donations will go towards programming and activities, such as life skills training, educational workshops, community building, mentoring activities, outreach, recruitment events, and other essential needs of the Spark students in our program.

Stock a Dorm

Foster youth move a lot during their childhood, sometimes with a moment’s notice and a garbage bag to carry their clothes and a few possessions. We want foster alumni to know that UT is home. For some students, it will be the first time having real freedom in their own living space – to decorate and make it their own. They need towels, bedding, household items, toiletries, laundry supplies and more – which as you can imagine represents a significant additional expense for youth that don’t have money to spare. For youth who are moving from on campus to apartments, basic furniture is needed. Once students are on campus, we will transfer their items to them.

If you are interested in helping stock a dorm or furnishing an apartment, there are a several ways you can help.

Back to School Survival Kit

back to school survival kitGetting back into the groove, or starting the groove, of college life can be stressful! During those first few weeks we are hoping to provide all our Spark students with a ‘Back to School Survival Kit.’ Each kit contains an assortment of personal care items, school supplies, snacks, and a gift card to help get them through that stressful first week of learning new routines. Our goal is to have spare items so that students have access to extras should they need, while also being able to save spares for the Spring Semester.

  • Sponsor a Welcome Back kit for $75 – $100
  • We are looking for donations and sponsors for a starter box with school supplies, deodorants, laundry care, snacks, and other essentials. You can purchase these items through our Amazon wish list.

Spark Freshman #1 is an 18 year old student moving to Austin from the Rio Grande Valley. He will be studying integrative biology and hopes to get a PhD in genetic engineering to help end world hunger. This is his first time living on his own and he will be living off campus. Many generous people have helped him with basics, but we are trying to help him finish off his apartment.
