Looking for ways to connect with the Spark community? We appreciate your interest and have several volunteer opportunities available. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with other ideas!

Spark has partnered with Austin Angels who assist us with matching current students who would like to have a mentor with a trauma-informed & trained volunteer mentor from the community. Efforts are made to match a student with a mentor currently employed in the student’s major or area of professional interest where applicable.

Mentors and mentees form a relationship for a minimum of one year, averaging 4 hours of time commitment each month. The mentoring relationship consists of face-to-face meetings (when safe), telephone, email, and social media connections. Mentors serve as social, emotional, and professional support for students as they navigate their academic, professional, and personal goals on campus and in life. Mentors are required to complete an interview with Spark staff, provide reference and background check information, and participate in mandatory training with Austin Angels.

For more information or to learn about the process of becoming a mentor, please visit the Austin Angels website and application and note that you would like to be matched at UT with a Spark Student!

For any additional questions please email Shannon Mann-Butler.  We will contact you within 5 business days.
